| The Disappearing Man (unedtited version of GQ article)
The first person Frank Ahearn ever disappeared was Ken. He spotted him at a Borders in north Jersey about three years ago - a pale, geeky-looking guy in a golf shirt and khakis, thumbing through a pile of books about Central America and offshore banking. It took Frank about a half second to figure him out: Ken was skipping town. "I betcha you’re going to buy a condo in Costa Rica," Frank said to the man, his voice low, so no one else could hear. "And bank in Belize." Ken’s slackened mouth curled into a big dumb O that almost made Frank laugh. He looked at Frank - a tall, longhaired guy dressed in black with a cartoonish goatee, thick tattooed arms and a twisted and discolored front tooth - and fumbled for a response. But now Frank was talking again, running his mouth in his thick New York accent.

Annapolis Hypocrisy Hides Occupied Palestine Reality
It shows the road to peace isn't through Annapolis nor can it be achieved without a willing partner or with the legitimate Palestinian government excluded. Talks are futile as long Israel spurns peace, violates international law, attacks Palestinian civilians, seizes their land, destroys their homes, restricts their movements, conducts targeted assassinations, denies them essential services, and holds Gaza under a medieval siege in the world's largest open-air prison while blaming the victims. Unreported is that the West Bank is also under siege that's been tightened in recent weeks on targeted communities. Palestinian civilians are severely impeded especially in their movement in and out of Jerusalem. Other communities affected include Nablus, Tulkarm, Bethlehem, Jenin, Hebron and Ramallah.
Dreamlinux 3.0 Beta 3 Testdrive
I've followed closely the instructions and, after the installation, I could enjoy Compiz Fusion's effects on the desktop. The Engage dock was replaced with Avant Window Navigator after the driver setup. I wanted to see what caused these problems, so I re-installed everything. It seems that everything's related to the way you boot the Live CD. If you boot into GNOME, you will install on your computer Dreamlinux with GNOME ONLY (there is no way you can change this)! But if you choose XFCE, you will get both desktop environments on your system. With them, you will receive a bonus pack of glitches the ones I mentioned above. .
Postal Service Feels Weight Of 'Junk Mail'
The souring economy and changing lifestyles are dramatically affecting one of the most dependable institutions in American life: the U.S. Postal Service. Troubled banks are mailing fewer credit card offers. Declining new-home sales mean vacant houses sitting with empty mailboxes. And as consumers switch to paying bills online, first-class mailings are drying up. .

401(k) debit draws red flags
A new debit card that lets consumers use ATMs to withdraw money from their 401(k) plans is drawing a sharp reaction from financial planners. The ReservePlus card is marketed by Reserve Solutions Inc., a New York financial firm that says it has 10,000 cardholders already. The debit cards allow cardholders to take out loans from their employer-sponsored 401(k) retirement funds. Normally, restrictions on the funds discourage account holders from making withdrawals before they are 59½ years old. Early withdrawals from 401(k) plans come with taxes and fees, which could deprive account holders of their nest eggs if they fail to replace the money promptly. Financial planners warn consumers to be cautious about taking money out of retirement plans, especially as the nation's economic slowdown makes withdrawals more tempting.
Oscar Pistorius banned from Olympics
Unfortunately Oscar has this same advantage in the Paralympics, as he is the only runner with this type of blade. If he was competing against people with one leg/one prosthetic, they could not possibly use these blades, as they would be running faster on one side than the other. Oscar may, by all of this, end up with nobody wanting to race against him, as with the mechanical advantages he has, nobody else can compete. .

We have a strong organisation, committed people and a track record that we intend to build on. I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenges." Richards had become the frontrunner despite doubts among the many commercial companies Ofcom will regulate about his lack of private sector experience and his close political ties. Back to top Sirius gaining on XM US subscription radio satcaster Sirius Satellite said it added 441,101 net new subscribers in the third quarter, up 23 per cent from the same period a year ago, helping it narrow the gap with its larger rival XM Satellite Radio. XM Satellite, with nearly 7.2 million subscribers, said it added 285,000 new net subscribers during the third quarter, less than half the number of subscribers it added this time last year.
Tax swaps, dumb fixes, drought
Real change that is an alternative to Big Government gets them squirrelier than the discovery that the new family next door drives an SUV with an NRA bumper sticker. House Speaker Glenn Richardson's tax-swap proposal —- a portion of the property tax for a new tax on services —- is a loser for Republicans. Want to get dispirited Democrats off the mat in Georgia? Push this proposal. Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, offers this warning: "Calling for an expansion of the state's sales tax to include what appears to be a telephone book listing of services is a move that harms … the taxpayer and is likely to cause great contention if passed." A good leader doesn't invite his followers to walk into a political ambush with sharpshooters from the Left on one side and from the Right on the other.
