A look at ORU's troubles

In nearly three months since three former Oral Roberts University professors filed a lawsuit against the university and its president, controversy has swirled around the school and its founding family.

First came allegations -- as yet unproven and strongly denied -- of the Richard Roberts family's lavish lifestyle charged to the university and ministry. Then more lurid allegations, also strongly denied, of an improper relationship between Lindsay Roberts and an underage boy.

Since then, hardly a week has passed without major news stemming from the controversy.

ORU President Richard Roberts resigned, regents promised an investigation and two evangelists on the board resigned while one lost his voting status. Two students and a former accountant filed suit against the school.

Out of Africa, Jewish-Muslim Friendship

The two, working in peaceful Maine, are now unlikely friends and allies in the struggle to end the Darfur genocide. Adam couldn’t stop talking about how much he appreciates the Jewish involvement in Darfur, saying, "We are very happy with the Jewish people and what they’ve done for us. It’s not a small thing."While Jews and Muslims have had a contentious relationship in modern times because of the fight for ownership of Israel, their joint efforts to end the Darfur genocide suggest that they have found a common cause out of which new forms of cooperation may grow. In some ways Zuckerman is a fairly typical high school student –he likes playing tennis and frisbee, works at an Irish pub and sings in the chamber choir– but he also serves as co-president of his high school civil rights team and has spent time in Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica helping people in need.

Rival consoles vying for interactive edge

It's too late to order broadband Internet access in time for Christmas. Too bad, especially for those who'll find a videogame console under the tree tomorrow. If you can't hook it up to the Internet, you're missing at least half the fun.

All three of the latest game consoles - Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360, Nintendo Co.'s Wii, and Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3 - are designed for online interaction. You can compete against gamers around the world, download videos and games, or swap friendly insults in a chat room.

But functions and features vary. Here's what you can expect:

Microsoft leads the way
When Microsoft's original Xbox game console came to market in 2001 with a high-speed ethernet port, many critics saw it as an irrelevant gimmick because few homes had broadband Internet.

Credit card dispute has Neiman's, HSBC in court

When HSBC Retail Services paid $640 million in 2005 for Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman's credit card customer accounts, it believed it was buying a lucrative portfolio.

That assumption isn't panning out, and now HSBC and the department stores are in the courthouse.

The Neiman Marcus Group, which also owns Bergdorf Goodman, has sued HSBC Bank Nevada for breach of contract after the bank threatened to stop opening new accounts and to cancel 192,000 accounts that represent potential sales of $500 million over the next two years.

The dispute centers on HSBC wanting to increase charges and interest rates on customers to make up for estimated losses of $8.5 million over the next three years.

In the complaint filed in Dallas County District Court on Feb.

Amy Winehouse; and Gin-Addled Leer

Disaster struck Big London over the weekend when trendy Camden watering hole The Hawley Arms went up in smoke without any of its celebrity regulars being caught inside. But Johnny Borrell, Peaches Geldof, Amy Winehouse, Noel Fielding and the Primrose Hill set weren't the only drab spectacles that failed to ignite, as the coma-inducing "best of the Premier League" ( Sky Sports) encounter between Chelsea and Liverpool proved to be a predictably damp squib, throwing up one shot on target in 90 minutes - considerably fewer than the Fiver managed in four seconds late on Friday night after being talked into drinking tequila slammers.

Nokia aiming to banish paper maps

The firm's next generation of digital maps gives real-time walking directions on the mobile phone screen, just like sat-nav systems which guide drivers.

""Nokia is taking navigation services out of the car so it can always be with you,"" said Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, president and CEO of the firm. ""Struggling with oversized paper maps will become a thing of the past.""

Nokia's Maps 2.0, for its Series 60 and 40 phones, is part of the firm's push into location and context-aware technologies.

Mr. Kallasvuo said: ""Navigation is one of the foundations of the context-aware mobile phone. We believe it will be as important as voice capability was 20 years ago.

He added: ""Your mobile device will soon be in tune with your surroundings and adjust accordingly.""

Nokia expects to sell 35 million mobile phones equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System) in 2008.
